The DHR part 1

part 1
The Depths of Hope and Revelry
Sunshine and cold morning breezes greeted my face as November fifth rolled in on the ocean tides. The call of the gauls though distance was foreboding and unnerving like a terrible memory on the edge of my mind.
Cold coffee sloshed about in my blue flowered mug, all but forgotten by my cold and nearly numb fingers. The frozen sand crunching beneath my bare feet, white skin turning a sickening shade of blue from the cold.
I was standing in the middle of a field a hundred miles from the sea, not a gaul in sight, my memories were getting more vibrant by the day. The sane part of my mind was telling me to go home to the heat of the fire. But heat was the only reason to return, there was no one there except whisper my fluffy, grumpy, grey cat. Everyone was gone; Boston, Chicago, Richmond, Philadelphia, Seattle, Las Angeles, they had all gone off to important places to do important things. And me? I was here, doing nothing much, just living. Ten years ago this was my dream, now it’s more like a continuous nightmare I call my life.
After ten years of being surrounded by people, it had become and addiction, that seemed more of a necessity than an option and honestly I hated myself for it.
Not only was I born two hundred years to late,  but in the wrong place, and with the wrong people.
As I head home my hand made lace dress dress drags in the dried grass. The last roses are still clinging to the briars, and the herbs have felt the frost. My victorian cottage, which I had wished filled with the sounds of children was still just as silent as the day I bought it.
I’m only twenty seven but my life has dragged so as it seems a hundred years.
I have to remind myself on days like these, that the sky doesn’t fall and tomorrow is always a new day. I have more than enough for myself and plenty for others who need. My life is close to what I always wanted. I’m a published author, I make and sell beautiful things, all who know me love me and I have five little nieces and nephews to care for. And though I often feel destitute and alone like Jane Austen perhaps, I remind myself that life is good.
That morning I sat in my front room which looked out over the lawn and drive, writing a song I didn’t entirely understand, but as I sat down to my hand made pianoforte the song flowed and grew with dramatic buoyancy and desolation. As I close my eyes to this world, a loud ringing is sounding at the door. Pulled from my revelry I attend to the door. As I opened it wide my visitor seemed as surprised as I at what greeted his eyes. He was a young man of perhaps thirty dressed well with a very European look about him especially in the eyes and the shape of the mouth.

Roses & Rope

part 1
Daisy Ashlyn Camslly was living in Philadelphia and attending meetings at the house of a one, Cullen Engle, when I first saw her. She wasn’t the tall, elegant, rich, snobby type, but she was beautiful and something about her struck me as mysteriously fantastic. Striking in her own right, might be a more accurate description.

In any case it was early on a Sunday morning at a time my father said no reasonable person should be awake. [I guess I never was reasonable or normal, at least  not buy my fathers standards, or anyone else’s for that matter]. My father, Deitrick Eirenger, never woke before nine on a Sunday morning. This left me with two to three hours of alone time, it was always a very boring three hours as I had nothing better to do than eat breakfast and stare out the window.

On particularly blustery Autumn morning, as the sun was just shading the tops of the park trees in a rich gold and red, I saw her. Her long honey brown hair was twisted in a fishtail braid down the center of her back, a bright yellow lace hat barley holding back the bangs that attempted to sweep her left eye. She wore a long burgundy, red coat that went down to her knees. From this protruded two slender legs covered in black nylon. Her hands wore a pair of yellow gloves the same color as the hat on her head, in her right hand was a half eaten red delicious apple, that perfectly matched her coat. A larger apple I had not seen, not in the entire 12 years of my life.

I decided that morning, for no particular reason, that she and I were going to be friends. She was different, like me, well not like me really, we were both different and that meant we were in the same boat. At the age of six I had contracted polio, my legs now seemed permanently twisted. I was tall for my age, my bones stuck out in abnormal knobby positions and my hair was always long and stringy. All the other kids made fun of me, I had once nocked Correy Daffin down and broken his nose and my leg at the same time. After that I was forbidden from playing from with the other children, and my own father hadn’t allowed me to participate in any recreation that even hinted of danger.

My mother had died when I was only 5 and my father had never been the same, though I knew little of his past I later realized that as a father and as a man he was merely protecting the last thing that meant anything.

Tatted Christmas Present

So I have this wonderful ball of Clarks Mercerized Crochet thread size 20, and I finally found something to use it on. It is a vintage ivory cream with pale pink pearls, I love it, I hope my sister in law likes it just as much.

Its all pinned out and drying now then I'll attach the hooks, maybe press it and I'll have one pacage under the tree that I finished decorating this very afternoon

Just a dash

So I'm at school in the library between finals, tatting, being accused nonsensical by a friend that I'm a liar and oh ya my fingers are freezing, and I'm hungry.

Oh well such is life I'm about 4/6 of the way done with my sister in laws christmas bracelet so maybe I'll write up a post about that tonight.

In the meantime I just received word that my package arrived safely at PHC, and a text message from my brother that says I love you ^_^

The Little Ones
On a cold chill day in December when hair is askew and noses are red, on days better spent at home lying in bed, the things that make you smile a little brighter are the littlest ones of all.
It was just such a day when Lesley Collin was driving home from a dreary day in her collage math class. Nothing had gone right not since the beginning of the year, but todays chance of flurries and bitter chill were not making her feel any better.
What had suddenly made her life so dreary and unlikable was still a mystery. She tried to look on the bright side, she tried to smile, but it was ever so hard, was this a medical case of depression? She refused to think such a thing, just because she was lost now didn’t mean she always would be, right?
The things she found that bothered her most was her lack of belief, not just the simple things in life but when your not sure you believe in God thats far more serious. Not believing in his existence but rather in his nature, the times when your mind seems to get the better of you.
However on a cold chill day in December when hair is askew and noses are red, a chance of flurries hangs over our heads, on days better spent at home lying in bed,
He still see’s fit to send little golden flowers our way, just to brighten our day.

Been a While

So I have only posted once in the last 11 days, I've been excessively busy working on Christmas presents (and decorating), plus finals, one more week of school woot woot! Anyhow down to busyness.

Bracelet I've been working on black knit crochene, tatted for a friend
Above my first two completed tatting projects.

This is my pinning board just heavy duty styrofoam
I soak my tatting in a bowl of water and pin it out so it dries flat.

I recently sent a package to my friend who's off to college at PHC, there holding a christmas mask ball, and man do I wish I could go *sigh* oh well at any rate I was able to make her this mask it's a really easy crochet pattern I made up on the fly. It's next friday have fun Sarah!

Off to PHC with love.

This was a complementary hair pin (tatted flower)

And vwalah! the mask itself a little blury but you get the idea.

I'll be back later with more, Trig homework, pringles and lemonade call.

Beginnings of New Book

When they were young,
They would run in the sun.
Picking flowers ,
From about the tower.
Flying high,
Stealing clouds from the sky.
Dragon Slayers,
Sophisticated Chess players.
Fairies fly,
As they say goodbye,
To the summers long past.
They still meet each summer.
On the shores of the sea.
Though there wings are gone,
They still chase the clouds.
And the fire reminds them,
Of fairies flying,
Singing to them lullabies.

Completion

So that blue tunisian crochet cowl neck scarf I was working on? Ya that on. It's finished!
I've had this small ball of blue yarn roiling around forever and I finally got to use it!

First I chaned about 30 stiches wide.
Then I tunisian crocheted until I was almost out of yarn.
Next I twisted it 2 times and stiched the two sides together.

Which gave me this.

Final Product, I'm pretty proud of it, slips right over my head and it's super comfy!

No name in life

The stars were singing
As the man was dreaming
Of the silence screaming
In the blackness of deaths breathing

His life is burning down
As the ashes fall around
And he begins to drown
In this life he is bound
By this pain he has found

Sonbirds

So I love animals, not like a tree hugger, planet lover, get rid of all the people, i'm a vegetarian type, I just like having pets around the house. I've had two cats, about ten fish, a lizard and a cockatiel (the last two only for a day or so). But i've always wanted a pet songbirds, I lived in the mountains of Brasil for about a month and the family I stayed with had five or so and a lovelier sound I've never since woken to.

Tatt a tatt tatt

So I've been looking at tatting patterns and tatting shuttles this evening and I found myself sighing at the thought of all the beautiful hand made shuttles I was seeing. I need more I thought, I can make one I thought, but what would I make it of. Wire was final conclusion and here is the product of that conclusion I'm fairly proud of my 5 min hand made shuttle.

It even has a little hook on the end

I also found some old practice scraps

Wonders

So I found this random thing of thick nasty yellow yarn at a thrift shop for a quarter and I fell in love! I had to have it, so I dug deep in my purse found a lonely quarter and traded it for that hideously perfect yarn. I haven't decided what i'll do with it yet, but it'll be lovely.

Current Projects of Note

I would describe myself as a multitasker who was never meant to be. In other words I start about 8 projects and take forever to finish them.
Currently i’m working on a set of navy blue tatted jewelry being mostly experimental and practice

A knitted poncho in Forest Green

A Tunisian crochet cowl neck scarf

a vintage lace hat

a crochet yellow something [which i can’t tell you about yet because it will be a christmas present]
Along with some others, i'll keep it updated. If anyone ever wants patterns just ask. Currently listening to Jason Upton and working on math homework so i'll update this later.

Quick Reflection on the Psalms

In Psalms 10 David is crying out to the Lord. “1 Why do You stand afar off, O LORD? Why do You hide in times of trouble? 2 The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.” It’s not really that the Lord has left, or gone far away, leaving man to do as he wishes. But rather, even He must wait for the fullness of time. What a man sows he reaps, even the cities of sodom and gamora were spared for a time. When we see things that shouldn’t be going on around us and we ask God why, the answer is often because he’s merciful, think where you'd be if He wasn't.  Just some thoughts.

The Sun is Rising

So randomly woke up at five o'clock this morning, not a bad thing in my opinion. At any rate, I decided to go watch the sun come up as I was walking down the beach a strange sight met my eyes. There was a strange unidentifiable lump of something lying in the sand ahead of me, I couldn't tell what it was for the distance but I sincerely hoped it wasn't dead and smelly. If you've ever lived buy the ocean you know it happens a lot. At any rate, when I was about five yards away I saw a little head pop and a precious little face starred out at me, it then proceed to lop back to the water, for it was a seal and as you may know lopping is what seals do, rather quickly I might add.

Introductions are in order

Introductions are very important as they will allow you to understand me somewhat better than you otherwise would. Mind you, I'm writing this blog for myself, with others in mind. I haven't the faintest idea that anyone else will ever read the things I discuss here, but that my friends is perfectly alright with me.
I'm 18 in college and living at home, most of my friends have gone off to college and as i'm currently out of a job this gives me extra time. I've grown up in the church and I wouldn't have it any other way, the people and the word have enriched my life in more ways than I could ever name and I'm so thankful.
I love reading and writing (novels mostly, some poetry), I also love sewing( preferably by hand) knitting tatting and all other such wonderful things. Costumes are my favorite to sew, I find modern patterns absolutely deplorable, I would much rather make my own design and figure it out as I go along.
I also love music, I play the guitar well, thou not epicly. From the lyrics to the physics of sound, I love it all.
In this blog I'll primarily be sharing my projects with you, as well as my thought on different topics. And whatever else important comes up.
If you were wondering about the title, Laputa is the floating planet of absurd philosophers from Gulliver's travels. So this blog is absurd philosophical rambling, thing to do with music and lace.
