Gone for the week

So tomorrow, bright and early my cohorts and I will be setting off for a week at what I know will be a fantastic music festival. Everything is packed and I must get some sleep, don't worry the camera is charged and I will take lots of pictures.

What a Weekend!

So my dad and I have been working on the dune buggy we got last august (it was pretty ruff{photo taken last August}). But it's getting so close to finished, I think her name should be Duchess Catalina Heartfield of Southbend, I'll explain why later. In the meantime I finally have a date set, my 30 hour trip will begin on August 10th. I'm really quite excited to be moving to China, though i must confess I'm a little nervous, somewhat stressed and kinda scared, but mostly happy and excited. It's still heard to believe what I'm doing . And Tuesday I leave for a music festival that I won't be getting back from 'till next sunday night, this I am very excited about! And then comes the fourth of July when the sky will be lit for miles by exploding lights.

Amazing Appness

Whilst eating a delicious (pumpernickel, peanut butter, sharp cheddar and sliced pickle) sandwich, I reviewed the manual for my new Chinese English dictionary App. I was so excited to discover such a wonderful app!

{In reference to the sandwich, no I'm not pregnant.}

Breakfast

Not the healthiest perhaps, but I thought it pretty and tasty enough to share with you. Italian Pizzelle Cookies, spread with rose and lavender jelly and of course my second cup of coffee. I think I probably drink to much coffee but I'm not worried.  This will be a good day.

Two Way Street

In those great stories of adventures, frighting and pleasant as they seam it’s never about one person. The hero (the one doing something grand, or terrifying or heartbreaking) they never stand alone, there are always friends there ready to help them out, love them, give them a break and a shoulder to lean on. There is always someone to talk to, always someone to cry with, always someone to lecture them when they need it and most of all to share in the joys and hopes of each others life. Thats what makes a hero a hero, because heroes are people and people need people. We need them to encourage us and love us and just be their for us. This is a two way street, that is at the moment feeling rather empty and I’m afraid I don’t quite know how to deal with that.

Fireflies

So I went for a late bike ride  in the cool night twilight and what should I happen to find but a stray firefly. After chasing it and following it in circles for about a block, it finally gave into my pleadings and landed in my hand. ^_^

Did you Check the Doors and Paintings?

I didn't love the Prince Caspian movie, but I love this song and this video. The song fits so perfectly and speaks a lot of truth. When I was a little girl my mom, my brother and I would read the Chronicles of Narnia together (it was mostly Mom and Jed reading as I'm sure we read it at least twice before I even lost my first tooth, which just so happened to fall out the night we started the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe), you see we always read them in chronological order, beginning with the Magicians Nephew. My Mom and I have begun reading it again and are almost to Chapter 3 of the Magicians Nephew. They will always be some of my favorite stories.

Practically Summer

The corn is growing fast in the summer heat we've been having. This weekend has been a little wet and chilly but it won't be so for long. In celebration of the warm weather I'd like to share my new sandals with you. I love them both and get really excited every time I wear them!

Quilted

Working on some hand quilting, a bag made especially for my macbook pro. To keep it cozy and comfortable :)

What's your favorite?

So a couple weeks ago my cousin put a clip from sound of music and I've been dying to watch  it again ever since then. Last night we finally did and I've been singing this song all morning. I love this cover version.

Gotta love the accidental advertisement ;)

Skee Ball

Went to the boardwalk with some friends yesterday and had a lot of fun. They  made me play skee-ball (which I had never played before). And through an entirely accidental happening I and another girl ended up playing 40 games of 6 balls each. Needless to say it took forever!!!!!!!!!!!

Practice practice the people skills

Sketch I did of my friend Aubs a while back.

Inspired

So ya, that before mentioned, nasty, chunky, yellow, yarn that I loved so much. I finally decided what to make out of it, I was inspired by my friend Christie who was making the simple band shaped ear warmers (that look rather like a thick sports headband) When I got this idea, it attaches in the back with a dorset button in a lovely shade of lavender. It's very cozy and is sure to keep my ears warm.

I changed the background and title of my blog again, mostly because the 90 degree weather has had me thinking beachy summer thoughts. Now it is time to go shopping with my dear sweet mamma.

To Much?

Sometimes I feel to much a girly girl, sometimes I feel like one of the guys. It always seems to much or not enough with me, to pretty-to ugly, to nice-to mean, to dressed up-to casual, to quiet-to loud, to serious to silly. It never seems quite me, not that I really remember who I am, but I know what I'm not. Having a hard time looking strait at the subject. *frustration*

First Fire of the Summer

Celebrated my 19th birthday, that's what I did this past Monday. As I hold bonfires at my house every summer it seemed a good opening to the season. I was so blessed by all my wonderful friends, and the Father was especially kind as he gave me beautiful weather and no bugs (besides the lightning bug Cal. found {a rarity on the beach}). We swam and played frisbee & soccer, we roasted marshmallows and bratwurst and drank an entire coolers worth of soda. Then we went on our "tribal tiki walk" basically we take the tiki torches and set out as tribe on an expedition down the beach. This particular expedition took us on a walk to woodhenge (pilings from an old house, that protrude up out of the sand). Later after we got back to camp we pulled out our guitars and began to play some already written songs as well as some spontaneous stuff. Unfortunately some of the younger tribe members are still in school and had to be taken home early, the party ended around 11:45 P.M. But we all had a good time and it is only the beginning of summer, with many more parties to come.
